Pediatric Dentistry: The New and the Tried and True

Dr. Jarod recently attended a continuing education course at The University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics.  The course, Pediatric Dentistry: The New and the Tried and True, focused on pediatric dental topics which ranged from medical management of cavities to traditional restorative techniques.  The course had lecturers from The University of Iowa and the School of Dentistry University of Dundee.  Over 150 dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, and staff attended the event.  The course offered attendees seven continuing education credit hours.

The course titles were as follows:

  • Hall Technique and Fiction Trial, Dr. Nicola Innes
  • Medical Management of Dental Caries in Children, Dr. Arwa Owais
  • Indirect Pulp Therapy, Dr. Matthew Geneser
  • Caring for Patients with Autism in Your Practice, Ms. Gayle Gilbaugh
  • Review of Traumatic Injuries for the Primary and Permanent Dentition, Dr. Karin Weber-Gasparoni
  • Nasoalveolar Molding for Patients with Cleft Lip and Palate, Dr. Matthew Geneser
  • Alternative Techniques for Restoring Primary Anterior Teeth, Dr. Tad Mabry
  • Outreach Program Planning, Ms. Cathy Skotowski

 

Dr. Jarod has received advanced training in behavior management, sedation, hospital dentistry, trauma, special health care needs, interceptive orthodontics, space maintenance, oral hygiene, and dietary counseling. His energetic personality allows him to relate to kids on an individual level. He understands the importance of children having a positive dental experience and strives to provide the best care tailored to each child’s needs. Dr. Jarod enjoys educating children and their families on the importance of oral health so they can establish good habits for a lifetime of smiles. His goal is to develop relationships with each of his patients to establish a dental home that is welcoming from infancy through adolescence.
