Iowa Dental Association 2015, Annual Session

Dr. Jarod recently attended the Annual Session of the Iowa Dental Association held in Des Moines, IA from April 30th to May 2nd.  The meeting provides an opportunity for dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and staff to attend continuing education courses, meet with vendors, and network with fellow practitioners.

Dr. Jarod attended the following continuing education courses at the meeting:

  • Baby Steps: Infant and Preschool Dental Care for the General Dentist, Dr. Gregory Psaltis
  • Restore Your Confidence in Pediatric Restorative Dentistry, Dr. Gregory Psaltis
  • Regulatory Issues Affecting Iowa Dentists, Becki Brommel
  • Are You Ready for your OSHA Checkup?, Brent Soderstrum
  • HIPAA for the Dental Practice, Catherine Cownie and Adam Freed

In addition to earning continuing education credits, he also presented his research project that he completed at The University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  The project highlighted the similarities and differences between the specialties of Endodontics and Pediatric Dentistry when dealing with traumatic dental injuries to permanent teeth.  He is currently working on a manuscript to submit for publication.

Dr. Jarod has received advanced training in behavior management, sedation, hospital dentistry, trauma, special health care needs, interceptive orthodontics, space maintenance, oral hygiene, and dietary counseling. His energetic personality allows him to relate to kids on an individual level. He understands the importance of children having a positive dental experience and strives to provide the best care tailored to each child’s needs. Dr. Jarod enjoys educating children and their families on the importance of oral health so they can establish good habits for a lifetime of smiles. His goal is to develop relationships with each of his patients to establish a dental home that is welcoming from infancy through adolescence.
