Dr. Jarod Attends CSPD/WSPD

2015-03-29 09.42.01Dr. Jarod attended the 40th annual California Society of Pediatric Dentistry (CSPD) and 13th annual Western Society of Pediatric Dentistry (WSPD) meeting this past week. The WSPD represents the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the Canadian provinces of Alberta & British Columbia. The meeting was held in Dana Point, CA from March 26th, 2015 to March 29th, 2015 at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott. This was the first CSPD/WSPD meeting that Dr. Jarod has attended.

Dr. Jarod attended the following continuing education courses:

  • Esthetic Full Coverage Restorations for Primary Teeth (Dr. William Waggoner)
  • An Update on Restorative Dental Care for Children (Dr. Kevin Donly)
  • Oral Pathology of the Pediatric Patient (Dr. Darren Cox)
  • String of Pearls (various presenters)

The courses provided valuable information that can be adapted to clinical practice to better care for the pediatric patient. In addition to attending the courses Dr. Jarod presented a 20 minute presentation in the String of Pearls Session. The presentation covered aspects of materials that can be used to maintain pulp (nerve) health and prevent root canal treatment in teeth that have had trauma or decay.

Dr. Jarod is currently practicing as a general dentist under the supervision of pediatric dentists in a residency program at The University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He will complete the program with a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry in June of 2015 and plans on opening a private practice in Muscatine, IA.

Dr. Jarod has received advanced training in behavior management, sedation, hospital dentistry, trauma, special health care needs, interceptive orthodontics, space maintenance, oral hygiene, and dietary counseling. His energetic personality allows him to relate to kids on an individual level. He understands the importance of children having a positive dental experience and strives to provide the best care tailored to each child’s needs. Dr. Jarod enjoys educating children and their families on the importance of oral health so they can establish good habits for a lifetime of smiles. His goal is to develop relationships with each of his patients to establish a dental home that is welcoming from infancy through adolescence.
